Great news! I’ve been selected to perform in the Orange County Music Awards Showcase Series! On Tuesday, January 24th, I’ll be competing against some of the best local acoustic talent around. It’s such an honor to be grouped with such awesome musicians.
FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS I’ve immersed myself in a two-car garage in the middle of Mission Viejo. Now I’m not living in the garage, nor am I working on a massive car restoration. Rather, I’ve been carefully crafting my new EP.
I’ve been working on this project with a guy named Marcus McMillan, and he’s awesome. Smart guy. Nice guy. Great sound engineer/producer.
I’m excited about finally releasing some good tunes. Here’s a one of the songs that we’ve recorded together over the past few sessions. It’s completely free to download, burn, and make available to your friends. Only, you must promise that you’ll enjoy it. Gone (unmixed preview) by Kacie Yoshida Lyrics/guitar — Kacie Yoshida Cello/arrangement — Chris McCarthy Production/arrangement — Marcus McMillan
And the ticking of the clock must agree
Time only ticks for those who leave me
Who leave me
Now I might not always believe in love
I eat it up, read it up, forget about it in the morning sun
The morning sun, the morning sun
Sold you my entire soul
never got your sympathy, your love, or your empathy
I should be gone
I should be gone
I should be gone
Remember that one winter
Pa said we’d awalsy be togehte
Took a puff of his cigar walked out the front door.
He was gone,
gone
gone
Now I work for minimum wage all day
Just to make a pocketful of penny change
and the government takes 10 percent
I guess I’ll just eat a little less
Gone
Gone
I should be Gone
I should be Gone
I should be Gone
I should be Gone
I should be Gone
I should be Gone
You might be wondering where all this is coming from. In the back of your mind you might be thinking, “That Kacie Yoshida just up and left the music world for a year!” But rest assured, a few college degrees and a Netfilx subscription later, I’ve decided to reveal to you a few things that have been incubating in cyber space.
First off, welcome to the new site! My good friend and webpage designer extraordinaire Mitchell Sholly has created this awesome new site for everyone to enjoy. Thanks to him we can all browse easier and enjoy the simplicity of WordPress. Thank you Mitchell!
Now you might be wondering why in the world would I be gone for a year. I might add that I’ve been diligently working on two albums. One of which is being recorded in Los Angeles with well-known musician, Nick Bearden. The other is being crafted in the garage of sound engineer Marcus McMillian.
A few sneak peaks will be available on the site in the next few days. I’m excited to show you what we’ve been working on. In the mean time, go ahead and take a look around. Things are being updated this very second.
